Opus Daily Practice – day 8

Opus Daily Practice day 8. Today I decided to work on projects in progress than start a new one based on the prompt. Cold weather is allowing me to get a lot done. One bag finished. One hat finished. The maple leaf drawing is super close to finished, and the kayak drawing is in progress. […]

Winter in the Park (and back to proper blogging)

I thought it was time to get back to proper blogging. Blogging that is just for enjoyment. Looking back the loss of the cabin derailed blogging for over a year. In all honesty the concept of photography as fun had also disappeared, all wrapped up in one horrible experience (or three if you count the two written off vehicles as well).

For the last couple of weeks I have felt it was time to turn things around. It was time to again shoot some landscapes and nature. It started out as reference images for painting, and then I realized shooting for shooting’s sake was starting to be fun again. So two weeks and hundreds of images later perhaps I am back on track.

Below is a teeny selection of a walk through the park by our home, literally 5 very cold minutes of shooting. And I am back to my first love, black and white, which again feels a positive move. Hopefully this is the step forward to a more positive blog. I hope you enjoy the black and whites.

Introducing Another Hunter Photographics Site

Just a quick update for one of my other blog/websites.

Debra Hunter - Canadian photography, art and handmade

As this blog/website has grown with all the various disciplines I work in, I have realized that it has become harder and harder for customers of Hunter Photographics to find the information they need. For this reason I have added another site to the repertoire. The new site is www.hunterphotographics.wordpress.com . It will echo the information on this site with regards to photography.

Over the next little while there will be a gradual shift in style. More black and white, cleaner lines. You can read all about the new look HERE. I’m looking forward to focusing on producing classic and timeless images.

New Hand Knit Items and a New Gallery

Debra Hunter - Canadian photography, art and handmade

wine wrap handmade canadian giftsA new opportunity has arisen and I am pretty excited about it. The Frame It Store in Red Deer, Alberta (Canada) has added a new gallery to their venue, and my Wine Wraps and Bottle Sweaters will be for sale in this new space.

Both items dress up your bottle while keeping the contents cool. All are hand dyed in natural dyes and hand knit. The wool is 100% Canadian produced wool and milled in Alberta.

The new gallery space, “A Maker’s Emporium”, is having its grand opening this Thursday. If you are in town, come and check it out. It’s great to see new things happening in Red Deer’s creative community.
